Our Story

Strategically located, Bar Dante is considered by many to be the heart and soul of Radda, an ideal  spot to relax and cherish the joys of Chianti. The glorious south facing terrace attracts locals and  tourists alike, and has always been a popular haven, open in all seasons, for breakfast, lunch, snacks  and dinner.

Carolyn, Fabrizio’s English wife, was one of the first visitors to appreciate Bar Dante’s unique  ambiance, charmed by the local exuberant owner back in 1989, and forming their personal and  professional partnership.

Today, together with their family, they continue to run this thriving wine bar, welcoming customers  to their second home. Their menu offers typical local cuisine with daily specials, fondly known for  the tastiest bruschetta in the region. Guests will return to enjoy their favourite dishes, delighting in  the warm atmosphere and friendly service.

Delicious home made desserts and cheese platters are also a great reason to stop by, to enjoy with  outstanding coffee, homemade lemonade, glass of chilled Prosecco perhaps or one of Radda’s own  prestigious Chianti Classico wines.

Born and raised in the area, Fabrizio’s local knowledge and wine expertise has long been  acknowledged. Their extensive cellar is a powerful magnet for all enthusiasts, and their adjacent  wine store, Enoteca Toscana, displays the finest selection of award winning and exclusive products,  offering olive oil and traditional balsamic tastings too.

Enoteca Toscana first opened in 1998, but has continued to evolve and diversify, relocating to Via  Roma, 4 in 2010. Subsequently enlarged and elaborated in 2017, this “shrine to wine” is now  recognized as the key reference point for both local and international connoisseurs.  Fabrizio and his staff are always ready to guide and advise, shipping worldwide, and delivering  locally on request. The climatically controlled environment guarantees perfect storage conditions  for every precious bottle, all rigorously displayed horizontally for further critical preservation.  Other treasures include rare vintage ports, single malt whiskeys and spirits from all over the world.  Art plays an important part in the family’s life too. Francesca, the couple’s oldest daughter, is a  talented illustrator and her original quirky postcards and posters decorate the walls, on sale  exclusively at the store.

While the two businesses are intrinsically entwined, they offer diverse attractions for the passing  visitor. Bar Dante and Enoteca Toscana invite old and new friends to share their passion for Tuscan  life and all that it offers. Whether it is a casual carafe of house wine and panino with friends, or an  extravagant treat for special occasions, there is something for everyone.
